Social Media and Writing in the New Age of Technology

Social Media and today’s technology has opened a new world of possibilities for writers these days. I looked at three New Age writers that have Facebook Pages to publicize their writing to see how effective they would be for me as a reader; Gregg Braden, Rhonda Byrne and Paulo Coelho. Out of the three, I chose Paulo’s site as being the most affective in drawing his audience in because he captured my attention and inspired me to read on.
Paulo Coelho’s page content stood out from the rest and grabbed my attention because I could tell that his personal footprint was on every posting in one way or another. He had many of his inspirational quotes posted, and one of these was; “Don’t seek love at any price, because love doesn’t have a price” (Paulo Coelho). Quotes like this just kept me scrolling down through the page, and I have never done that before on a Facebook Page. These observations made Paulo Coelho’s site an effective marketing tool in my eyes.  He captivates my attention because there is an inspirational mix of informational posts for the reader which makes for affective marketing. Coelho’s Facebook Page is a continuation of his inspirational form of writing, and technology has made it possible to showcase his diverse yet consistent branding. His posts make him human and relatable which coincides with his inspirational form of New Age writing, there are responses to/from readers, pictures, events, products and much more which keep me and other readers interested and on his page.
